India’s Gender Gap Ranking Drops, but Female Participation Continues to Rise
India’s Global Gender Gap ranking fell to 129th this week, worsened by declines in educational attainment and political empowerment, though there has been slight improvement in economic participation. The Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) indicates a 0.6 percentage point increase in female labor force participation in urban areas for early 2024, a trend continuing over the past 11 quarters.
