The suicide of a Bengaluru techie has triggered massive outrage across the country, sparking an online debate on men’s rights and drawing a reaction from the family of the deceased.
The family alleged that the Indian laws were inclined towards women and had little for men. They also sought justice from President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi.
Atul Subhash, an engineer hailing from Uttar Pradesh and working in a private firm in Bengaluru, was found hanging in his residence, leaving behind a 24-page suicide note. He also shot a 90-minute video before claiming his own life, in which he alleged that his estranged wife levelled false allegations, harassed him, and filed several cases.
Father of the victim, Pawan Kumar opened up about his son’s unfortunate demise stating that Atul was frustrated but he never let his family feel his sufferings. He said that his son’s wife slapped charges after charges against him.
“He (victim) had said to us that those in the mediation court do not work as per law, not even as per the rules of the Supreme Court. He had to go to Jaunpur from Bengaluru at least 40 times. She (the deceased’s wife) used to frame one charge after another. He must have been frustrated but never let us feel that,” he said.
Further detailing the ordeal, Kumar said that the family received the information about the incident after Atul sent an email to his younger brother at around 1 am.
“It’s 100% true (the allegations of the deceased against his wife and her family)… We cannot express the level of tension that our son would have been in,” he said.
