South West Monsoon is expected hit Kerala today, two days ahead of the normal onset date of June 1. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that Monsoon can advance over some parts of North-Eastern states by today.
The conditions also continues to become favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Arabian Sea, Maldives and Comorin, Lakshadweep, Kerala and Bay of Bengal.
Talking to Akashvani News, IMD Director General, Mrityunjay Mohapatra gave further details on the onset of the Monsoon.
The weather department also forecast that isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mahe during next five days beginning tomorrow. Rainfall is also predicted over Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka on the first and second of June.
The Weather agency informed that rainfall is over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha is likely during the next five days.
