Indian Shooters Manu Bhaker & Sarabjot Singh To Compete For India’s Second Medal At Paris Olympics Today

Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh will compete for India’s second medal at the Paris Olympics in 10 metre Air Pistol Mixed Team event today.

The duo qualified for the Bronze medal final match of the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event yesterday. They will be facing Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho of South Korea this afternoon.

Akashvani’s correspondent reports that having secured their spot in the final by finishing third in the qualifiers yesterday, Manu is aiming to become the first Indian athlete in over a century to win two medals in a single Olympic Games.

She previously made history by becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal, clinching bronze in the 10m Air Pistol event.

Trap shooter Prithviraj Tondaiman will be competing on the second day of the Men’s Trap qualification rounds. Women shooters Shreyasi Singh, the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, and Rajeshwari Singh, who secured a quota spot in trap, will begin their two-day qualifying rounds at the same time.

The Indian Hockey team drew 1-1 with Argentina in a Pool B match yesterday. The Indian team will next face Ireland.

In Badminton, Lakshya Sen secured his first victory in the Paris Olympics men’s singles Group L match, defeating Julien Carraggi of Belgium in straight games 21-19, 21-14. He will now face reigning Asian champion Jonatan Christie in his final group match tomorrow.

In Men’s doubles, the Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have qualified for the quarterfinals. They have become the first Indian men’s doubles combine to reach the quarterfinals at the Olympics.

In rowing, Balraj Panwar will strive to advance to the semifinals in the Men’s Single Sculls during the quarterfinal. Having reached the last eight after finishing second in the repechage rounds, Balraj is set for a crucial race at the Nautical St – Flat Water course. Meanwhile, the Indian Men’s Archery team, comprising Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav, crashed out in the quarterfinals to Turkiye.
